Our Mission

Building Relationships with Christ and Others

Engage: We want to be more than just a Sunday Morning Church. We want to be more than just acquaintances with each other and residents in our community. We desire to be actively involved in each other’s lives with love and commitment and to take that same attitude into our neighborhoods. Through, The Blessing Well, our compassionate ministry center, and through organized community service projects, exciting fellowship events, and small group meetings we are meeting our goal to engage and love each other and our community.  Most importantly, we seek to grow closer to Christ everyday.  We are not about religion - stale rules and empty ritual. We are about relationship with a living God.

Evangelize: This is the Church of Jesus Christ and we want everyone to know. Our members are trained, encouraged and expected to share their faith with others so that all might come to know the Hope that is Jesus Christ.

Equip: Education is worthless if it isn’t put to use. We strive to help all our members find a place to serve and equip them for ministry.

Educate: With children, teens, adults and seniors our goal is to provide quality Christian education so that our faith can be built on solid ground.


Our History

Started in 1952, DeKalb First Church of the Nazarene is part of a larger Nazarene denomination founded in 1895 and now ministering in over 140 different world areas. A product of the Evangelical Revival led by John Wesley in the 1730’s, the Church of the Nazarene continues the same emphasis on holy living through Jesus Christ to this day. DeKalb First Church of the Nazarene builds on the history of our denomination and our local church. We see our history as the springboard that propels us into an exciting future. We infuse old traditions with new life and create new traditions all of the time. The best of the old and the most exciting of the new combine at DeKalb First with fantastic results.
